MUSHL10100: A Thousand Years of Listening

Taught eleven sections over the course of six semesters, each section registering 30-45 students. The course covered the fundamentals of music; overview of the music-historical stylistic eras; and topical explorations of sacred and secular vocal music, opera, musical theatre, instrumental music, film/television music, and jazz.

Music 101: Introduction to Music

Taught nine sections over the course of five semesters, each section registering 22-28 students. The course covered the fundamentals of music and a chronological survey of the Western art music canon from the late Middle Ages to the early twentieth century. Additional topics included musical theatre, jazz, and film/television music.

CUNY Music Diversity Program

Mentor, City College of New York (CUNY)

Mentored a Latina undergraduate student through a 1-credit independent study of Amy Winehouse’s songs. The project culminated in the student writing 10-page autoethnography and presenting a lecture-recital. The purpose of the Music Diversity Program was to introduce promising minority undergraduate students to advanced research in the fields of musicology, ethnomusicology, and music theory by pairing them with graduate student mentors.
